I made the mistake of not carefully checking the contents of the many Spotify playlists I assembled into my Christmas day super playlist fest. Ronan Keating and Máire Brennan’s cover of Fairytale of New York crept in and contaminated the whole thing. This has to be the most appalling and pathetic attempt at a cover yet. They even take out the word faggot, I guess, in case it offends. I can think of a lot of far stronger words that would offend less than this gutless, passionless waste of recording studio time.
Did they really think they could improve on the original?
Best avoided at all costs.
