High End Show Munich May 3 2012. Naim today confirmed that it will start shipping its hard disk
player / servers with a 2TB hard drive from 7th May. Naim hard disk player / servers with SSD drives designed for total external storage – generally targeted at those customers with very large music collections – are not changed. A 2TB drive approximates to the storage of 2400 albums in Naim’s preferred uncompressed wav format.
The 2TB drive is partitioned and now includes a folder called Downloads that can be used as storage for music downloaded or ripped prior to owning a Naim Server.

At the same time Naim is making available for download from the Naim website, from May 3rd, an updated version of its server software Version 1.6C. This should be applied to all hard disk player / servers regardless of fitted drive. This fixes some minor issues that had occurred in the field. Once downloaded the .iso file should be burnt to a CD which should be loaded into the hard disk player / server to start the update.
Naim’s n-Serve app has received a new free update. n-Serve Version 2.3 now offers the same great levels of music management previously only possible via the Naim desktop client.
The update enables enhanced music management and includes metadata editing. The user can now edit metadata including album name, artist name, genre and track name all through the app’s interface. This feature is especially useful for rips of more obscure music where the artwork is missing.
The user can also perform an online look-up of the AMG database and web search for album art using Google, Yahoo or Bing directly from the app. The web search link opens up a world of expanded information giving the user access to videos, the latest news and all kinds of information about their favourite artists straight from the app.
